Summer Camp Highlight: Week 2, Featuring Game Development Camp!

Your child’s creativity flourishes in our Game Development camp! Our campers learned how to make fun, graphical video games on either the iPad or the computer. They created stories, designed characters and game mechanics, and made their games from scratch! Our instructors taught many gaming concepts along the way to help campers make their games realistic, challenging, and fun! The end result–fun video games that campers are proud to share with family and friends!

Campers learned concepts of different gaming structures such as maze and scrolling shooter. They created a multi-level maze game where characters can navigate, collect treasures, and find the exit. In scrolling shooter games, the main object appears to move over a scrolling background, earning essential topics including automatic camera movement, artificial intelligence, projectiles, and alarms.

Usually, campers progress from one game structure (maze, platforming, scrolling shooter) to another, but what’s different this time is they learned universal concepts such as animating sprites, how to keep score, add sound, use invisible blocks as triggers for things to happen.

Our campers took what they learned and ran with it, creating a plethora of different games! The outcome included one maze game, one tank shooter game, one interactive story game, and one regular RPG type game with a battle system.

It’s not too late to sign up, there are still some spots available in our August Camps! Claim your child’s spot today before they’re gone!
